Here you will find 450 native and exotic animals from the world's deserts, together with botanical gardens and scenic trails. We think you will find it so exciting that you will want to visit again and again. |

| School Field Trips further the Living Desert's mission of interpreting and preserving the plant and animal life of the world's deserts. Our knowledgeable docents will increase your enjoyment of our scenic trails, botanical gardens, and animal exhibits, and introduce you to the life forms that call the desert 'home'. If you select a docent guided tour, our docents will escort you through the park - OR - you may selct a Zoo Zones Field Trip, which features docents at interpretive stations throughout the park.
School Field Trips are available most weeks, Mon.-Fri., mid-October through mid-May. |

Your adventure includes nighttime and morning guided walks, a campfire program - including s'mores roasting, a filling continental breakfast and next day admission to the Zoo! (Dinner the first night is not provided.)
All you need to bring is a sleeping bag or blankets (a pillow, if desired), personal toiletries, and a change of clothes for the next morning!
Pricing ages: Child-Ages 5 - 12, Adults-Ages 13 and up Starry Safaris are for adults and children five years and older. Singles and couples without children are welcome to all programs. | Make a date with the children in your life - share some food, learn some facts, & have some FUN! From October through March enjoy our special FAMILY ADVENTURE programming selected Thursdays each month. (Exception for November) We’ll be offering reprise evenings for two of our most anticipated ADVENTURES! The activities are geared towards families with children ages 4 and up. All ADVENTURES include an evening on-grounds walk or tram tour, refreshments, crafts*, and a special take-home souvenir*.

Come bright and early to get a special ‘sneak peek’ as some of our favorite animals start their day!
We rendezvous at our new Discovery Center at 8:00am sharp, where you’ll be greeted by one of our small animal ambassadors. After check-in we’ll learn a bit about the morning’s featured animal, and have a few moments to peruse the wonders the Discovery Center has to offer – You’ll definitely want to come back when you can spend more time!
From our starting point, you’ll be transported to you special ‘sneak peek’ location, where you’ll get to meet our featured animal up close!
Non-member participants may choose to purchase a discounted daily admission when they register, so that they may spend the whole day enjoying the park!
Ages 4 and up welcome! For safety reasons we ask no more than two children per adult. |

Join The Living Desert on guided wildflower tours to incredible sites throughout the valley. Dates are set below; locations will depend on bloom sites and will be posted as soon as they are confirmed (In most cases, a week before the walk). Possible tour sites include, but are not limited to: Cottonwood Springs, Box Canyon, Indian Canyons, Coachella Valley Preserve, Snow Creek, Whitewater and Horsethief Canyon. |

| If it's winter, the place for birders to be is the Salton Sea! Join Living Desert explorers as we travel to the Salton Sea to search for the birds of winter. We delight in flocks of snow geese, white-faced ibis and long-billed curlews. Sightings of birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon and merlin, are possible. Highlights of the day are often the burrowing owls seen peering from their burrow entrances.
These all-day carpool trips leave The Living Desert at 7:45 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. Participants are reminded to bring lunch, snacks, water, hats, jackets, sunscreen and binoculars; wear comfortable walking shoes. Leaders will bring spotting scopes. |
